KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) — Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are set to participate in the upcoming 19th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF), to be held in Guangzhou, China from June 27-30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said Malaysia will be the co-host country for CISMEF this year to accelerate Malaysian SMEs\u2019 market access in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the event, MATRADE is collaborating with China\u2019s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the CISMEF Bureau as well as Quantum Atlas Sdn Bhd, the official agent and event manager for the Malaysia Pavilion in CISMEF 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 40 countries participated in the event last year, which saw over 100,000 public and trade visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Exhibitors in CISMEF 2023 clinched deals worth more than RMB10 billion (US$1.39 billion) in direct procurement, financing, industrial collaborations, and investment agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MATRADE said the targeted sectors for the Malaysia Pavilion include intelligent manufacturing, food and beverage, fashion as well as halal products and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China continued to be Malaysia\u2019s largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, taking up 17.1 per cent share of Malaysia\u2019s total trade in 2023, valued at RM450.84 billion (US$98.80 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Malaysia\u2019s exports to China grew by 98.07 per cent over the last 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
