{"id":254296,"date":"2024-02-10T16:53:54","date_gmt":"2024-02-10T08:53:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=254296"},"modified":"2024-02-10T16:53:55","modified_gmt":"2024-02-10T08:53:55","slug":"brazil-pres-lula-plants-tree-of-hope-at-palestinian-embassy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=254296","title":{"rendered":"Brazil: Pres Lula plants tree of \u201chope\u201d at Palestinian Embassy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.mercopress.com\/data\/cache\/noticias\/98303\/0x0\/copia-de-fotojet.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/en.mercopress.com\/data\/cache\/noticias\/98303\/760x480\/copia-de-fotojet.jpg\" alt=\"Lula is to meet next week with the leader of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmud Abbas\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>BRASILIA, Feb 10 (NNN-MERCOPRESS) &#8212; Brazilian President Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva planted a tree at the Palestinian Embassy in Brasilia where a group of Arab and Islamic diplomatic missions gathered to pay him a tribute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou are planting hope for the Palestinian people,\u201d Palestinian Ambassador Ibrahim Alzeben told the South American leader before all the guests shared dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lula has a historic bond with the Palestinian cause and is often critical of Israel&#8217;s attacks on the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, both of Lebanese descent, joined Lula at the gathering, together with Ministers Mauro Vieira (Foreign Affairs), Ricardo Lewandowski (Justice) and Paulo Pimenta (Communications Secretary). Also attending the event were First Lady Janja da Silva and Lula&#8217;s advisor and former Foreign Minister Celso Amorim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The South American leader will be traveling next week to Egypt and Ethiopia to deepen Brazil&#8217;s political and economic rapprochement with the African continent.
