{"id":253085,"date":"2024-01-31T09:49:15","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T01:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=253085"},"modified":"2024-01-31T09:49:15","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T01:49:15","slug":"us-gun-violence-california-police-make-arrests-in-desert-killing-of-six","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=253085","title":{"rendered":"US gun violence: California police make arrests in desert killing of six"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/assets\/news_photos\/2024\/01\/30\/image-170721-1706583236.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>LOS ANGELES, Jan 31 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; California police investigating the slaying of six people whose bodies were found in the desert have made their first arrests, they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The corpses &#8212; all of which reportedly had gunshot wounds and some of which had been burned &#8212; were discovered on a dirt road around 80 kilometers outside Los Angeles by deputies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No attempt had seemingly been made to hide them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officers, who had been responding to a request for a wellness check, initially discovered five bodies, along with a lot of bullet casings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A sixth body was found the following morning as detectives combed the grisly scene in the remote area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>News footage showed one vehicle at the scene riddled with bullet holes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cardboard, tires and broken bottles were also found at the scene, The Los Angeles Times reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police in San Bernardino County have been cagey about the details surrounding the case, and on Monday would only say that arrests had been made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials have so far released no information about the identity of the dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pockets of Southern California are plagued by gang violence, including from Mexican drug cartels vying for control of the lucrative market north of the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But at present there is no hint that the killings were connected to the ultra-violent gangs. &#8212; NNN-AGENCIES<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOS ANGELES, Jan 31 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; California police investigating the slaying of six people whose bodies were found in the desert have made their first arrests, they said.
