{"id":246998,"date":"2023-12-03T15:30:59","date_gmt":"2023-12-03T07:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=246998"},"modified":"2023-12-03T15:30:59","modified_gmt":"2023-12-03T07:30:59","slug":"uae-argentina-brazil-chile-and-paraguay-agree-to-promote-bioceanic-corridor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=246998","title":{"rendered":"UAE, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Paraguay agree to promote bioceanic corridor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.mercopress.com\/data\/cache\/noticias\/97352\/0x0\/corredor.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/en.mercopress.com\/data\/cache\/noticias\/97352\/760x480\/corredor.jpg\" alt=\"The road drafted to be some 2,200 kilometers long would be completed by 2025 \"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>DUBAI (UAE), Dec 3 (NNN-MERCOPRESS) &#8212; Argentina, Brazil, Chile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Paraguay agreed in Dubai on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Summit (COP28) to \u201cseek opportunities\u201d for the highway due to link the port of Santos, in Brazil, with the Chilean ports of Arica and Iquique. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Ben\u00edtez has dubbed the initiative \u201cthe small Panama Canal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cJoint Declaration on Cooperation linked to the Bioceanic Corridor\u201d agreed upon in the interest of \u201cdeepening social, trade and investment relations\u201d provides for the \u201ccooperation with the private sectors, to accelerate economic activity in the interest of the parties, and to seek opportunities in the bioceanic corridor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The document was signed by Foreign Ministers Mauro Vieira (Brazil), Alberto van Klaveren (Chile), Rub\u00e9n Ram\u00edrez Lezcano (Paraguay), the UAE Minister of Investment, Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi; and Argentina&#8217;s Ambassador to the UAE, Agust\u00edn Molina Arambarri in the presence of heads of state from the UAE, Paraguay, and Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe integration project will strengthen trade and economic development in the region, where Paraguay will be a major player,\u201d Paraguayan President Santiago Pe\u00f1a wrote on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials from the five countries joined the COP 28 debate in Dubai, where they took this step towards the consolidation of the Bi-Oceanic Corridor, a project that has been promoted by Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Paraguay since 2015 to boost development in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road drafted to be some 2,200 kilometers long would cross the Argentine provinces of Salta and Jujuy, Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil, and Antofagasta and Tarapac\u00e1 in Chile, as well as the Gran Chaco in Paraguay.
