KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian government has imposed anti-dumping duties on Japanese cold rolled coils following the completion of its investigations, which began on Jan 31, 2023, based on a petition filed by Mycron Steel CRC Sdn Bhd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement Friday, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said a final determination had been made to impose anti-dumping duties on cold rolled coils of alloy or non-alloy steel of a thickness between 0.20mm to 2.60mm and width between 700mm to 1,300mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ministry said the investigation, per the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 and the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Regulations 1994, has excluded tin mill black plate or cold rolled coils imported for automotive or electric and electronic endusages originating or exported from Japan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It said a 9.03 per cent duty was imposed on products from the Nippon Steel Corporation, while other manufacturers were slapped with a 22.62 per cent duty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Royal Malaysian Customs Department will enforce the collection of the anti-dumping duties for a period of five years, effective Sept 29, 2023 to Sept 28, 2028. The imposition of anti-dumping duties on exports of subject merchandise from Japan is expected to address the unfair trade practices,\u201d said MITI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MITI said the government excluded duties for the producers and exporters with de minimis dumping margin, which were Daido Steel Co Ltd and JFE Steel Corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInterested parties such as local producers, importers, foreign producers\/exporters and associations related to the investigation can access the non-confidential version of the final determination report by submitting a written request to the MITI,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
