TRIPOLI, Libya, April 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Libya’s state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC), announced that, clashes have erupted in Sharara, the country’s largest oil field, revealing no details about the fighting parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The NOC strongly condemns the clashes and the attack that took place last night, on station number 186 of Sharara field, which involved the use of rocket-propelled grenades,” NOC said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The corporation confirmed that the attack and clashes caused no casualties, and the daily oil production has not been affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NOC demanded an “immediate stop to the violence all over the country, including in and around the most important energy facilities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sharara is located some 900 km south of the capital, Tripoli. It has the capacity to produce over 300,000 barrels of crude oil daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The corporation’s announcement came, as the eastern-based army and the UN-backed government are fighting over the control of Tripoli, since early April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fighting so far has killed more than 270 people, injured over 1,300 others, and forced more than 38,000 people to flee their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
