KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Human Resource Minister M. Kula Segaran will lead the Malaysian delegation to the Special Session of the ASEAN Labour Ministers and Singapore Conference on Future of Work which will be held in Singapore Monday (April 29).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Human Resource Ministry in a statement Sunday said Kula Segaran is scheduled to chair the session and take part as one of the panels during the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKula Segaran is expected to speak on the role of tripartism and how it relates to social protection, the universal Labour Guarantee and collective representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe minister is chairing the Special Session of the ASEAN Labour Ministers in his capacity as the present chair of the ASEAN Labour Minister\u2019s Meeting,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both the special session and the conference are expected to bring together over 100 delegates consisting of Labour Ministers and officials from ASEAN member states, such as Australia, China, India, Japan, Mongolia as well as captains of industry and academicians, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe special session will also see the signing of an ASEAN Labour Ministers Statement on the Future of Work for the ASEAN Labour Ministers\u2019 Special Session,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the visit, Kula Segaran will also pay a courtesy call to Singapore\u2019s Manpower Minister Josephine Teo and to be briefed on the management of foreign workers, as well as on occupational safety and health at workplace by the ministry\u2019s senior officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe minister is also expected to be briefed on human resources development, in particular on programmes related to skills upgrading of employees in line with the fourth Industrial Revolution by the Skills Development Fund,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides paying a courtesy call on his Singaporean counterpart, Kula Segaran is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with his counterpart from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Director-General Guy Ryder and Dr Awang Abu Bakar Apong from Brunei Darussalam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Human Resources Ministry\u2019s Secretary-General Amir Omar, officers, senior officials and Malaysian High Commission in Singapore will also be present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
