{"id":213542,"date":"2023-03-07T10:27:55","date_gmt":"2023-03-07T02:27:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=213542"},"modified":"2023-03-07T10:27:56","modified_gmt":"2023-03-07T02:27:56","slug":"malaysian-ringgit-marginally-higher-against-greenback-in-early-trade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=213542","title":{"rendered":"Malaysian ringgit marginally higher against greenback in early trade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Sharifah Pirdaus Syed Ali<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, March 7\u00a0(NNN-Bernama) &#8212;\u00a0Malaysian ringgit opened marginally higher\u00a0against the US dollar Tuesday as the greenback took a breather following\u00a0a small pullback in Treasury yields Monday and ahead of the United States (US) Federal Reserve\u2019s (Fed) Semiannual Monetary Report to Congress, said an analyst.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 9.00&nbsp;am, the local note rose&nbsp;to 4.4740\/4795 versus the greenback from Monday\u2019s closing&nbsp;of&nbsp;4.4760\/4800.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd head of economics, market analysis, and social finance Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said Tuesday\u2019s trade is expected to be muted as market participants would want to adopt a wait-and-see attitude ahead of&nbsp;Fed&nbsp;chairman&nbsp;Jerome Powell&#8217;s testimony scheduled for&nbsp;Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Obviously, markets are awaiting for more clues as the Fed is likely to demonstrate its resolve to maintain a super-tight monetary policy stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In respect of&nbsp;monetary policy action,&nbsp;the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA)&nbsp;is likely to deliver a 25-basis point hike in the cash rate.
