{"id":21167,"date":"2019-04-19T15:58:10","date_gmt":"2019-04-19T07:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=21167"},"modified":"2019-04-19T15:58:12","modified_gmt":"2019-04-19T07:58:12","slug":"syrian-refugee-walks-3km-daily-to-work-to-feed-his-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=21167","title":{"rendered":"Syrian Refugee Walks 3Km Daily To Work To Feed His Children"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Muhammad Basir Roslan<br> IDLIB (Syria), April 19 (NNN-BERNAMA) &#8212; A Syrian refugee Abu Bilal (pix) commutes three kilometres from Talul Karamah town to nearby areas daily to earn a living so he can buy food for his two children as well as to purchase feed for his goats and fertilisers for his plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abu, 52, from the city of Hama also said, apart from food, the money was also used to purchase medicines for his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn order to find money to buy feed for my goats, plants\u2019 fertilisers and seeds, food and medicines, I had to do various work by walking for three kilometres daily from Talul Karamah to nearby towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026 and that\u2019s my daily routine to support my family,\u201d he told Bernama when met at Al Aghedad camp in Talul Karamah town Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said apart from rearing goats, he also planted tomatoes, potatoes and cucumbers, to feed his family and whenever he had extra harvest he then would distribute them to friends around the camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When his village was attacked by Bashar Al Assad army three months ago, Abu managed to escape with his two children, aged 10 and nine, before arriving at the camp to seek shelter together with nearly 100 families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe dangers never stop haunting my family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThree months ago we had to flee our village in Hama when we were attacked by Al Assad\u2019s army and unfortunately, my wife was killed during the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHowever, once we arrived in the camp and thought that we are finally safe, just a week ago this camp was bombarded by Al Assad\u2019s military aircraft and 17 were killed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was met when delegates from the Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organisations (Mapim) arrived at Al Aghedad refugee camp to deliver 100 new tents to replace old and damaged tents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mapim\u2019s chief executive officer, who is also head of delegation, Dr Ahmad Sani Araby Al Kahery, said the uniqueness of the new tent was that it was fitted with lockable steel door to prevent animals or dangerous insects from entering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe new tent unique design has improved safety features compared to the tent we had previously provided, as it is equipped with a lockable steel door, apart from using metal frames to withstand extreme weather,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahmad Sani said Mapim through Syria&#8217;s Rescue Humanitarian Aid Mission would add more numbers of recipients of new tents around Syria from time to time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said Mapim was also appealing to Malaysians to continue making contribution at www.tabungsyria.com or Maybank 5628-3463-6987 (Syria Emergency Appeal).
