KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 (NNN-Bernama) — Ten\u00a0Malaysian medical device\u00a0and\u00a0pharmaceutical companies will participate in\u00a0the Arab Health 2023 medical expo in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), from Jan 30 to Feb 2, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said it is organising the participation of these companies, which include KPJ Healthcare Bhd and UEM Edgenta Bhd, to create export opportunities for Malaysian medical devices and healthcare services in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVarious high-value products and services from Malaysia will be promoted to over 50,000 global visitors expected at the event, including medical consumables, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and wellness products and services,\u201d the agency said in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year marks MATRADE\u2019s 19th year of participation in the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its director of lifestyle and life sciences, Razida Hanim Abdul Razak, anticipated a steady global demand for Malaysian quality healthcare products for 2023, adding that the MENA region offers high potential export opportunities for Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOverall, demand for healthcare-related products and services in MENA is expected to reach RM33.31 billion (US$7.92 billion) in 2025. Participation in renowned large-scale events such as Arab Health will help to boost our Malaysia\u2019s branding among buyers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MATRADE said throughout the years, Malaysian medical devices have been well accepted globally, supported by the country\u2019s reputation as the world\u2019s leading exporter of medical gloves and catheters, which are some of the key products categorised under medical devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2022, the top-five export destinations for Malaysian medical devices in the MENA region were Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Qatar, and Morocco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Collectively, these markets contributed 77.32 per cent of Malaysia\u2019s exports of medical devices to the region. Exports of medical devices to the MENA region during the year amounted to RM316.1 million (US$74.4 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
