KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 (Bernama) — Malaysia-based engineering and offshore repair specialist ASIC Offshore and Marine Sdn Bhd (ASIC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Dok dan Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero) (PT DKB), the largest state-owned shipyard in Indonesia, thus, entering an exciting phase of a strategic partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The signing was held at Jakarta on Sunday and witnessed and endorsed by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Minister of International Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Minister of Foreign Affairs Zambry Abdul Kadir together with Indonesian counterpart Minister for Public Works and Housing Dr Ir M Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was organised by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and facilitated by the Embassy of Malaysia, Jakarta together with the Government of Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the agreement, both ASIC and PT DKB would be able to fully leverage their expertise in their respective fields and work together more closely towards their common goal of capturing a bigger market share and more opportunities, mainly in the areas of oil and gas and maritime industry, specialising in design and engineering, new building, repair and maintenance and ship management, in the short and long-term projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ASIC group managing director Jazli Rahimi said the company is strongly confident that the cooperation with PT DKB would further strengthen ASIC\u2019s footprint in the Asia Pacific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are looking towards a long-term economic development where doors will be opened for Malaysian companies to carry out businesses in Indonesia via ASIC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur aim ultimately is to become the market enabler by providing a platform for Malaysian companies to enter the Indonesian market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCollaboration with state-owned government company like PT DKB as our strategic partner in Indonesia shall enhance our strong brand image and presence in the local industry with the estimated contract value of RM500 million projected within the next two years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ASIC group executive director Nur Farina Khalil said the ASIC Group of Companies — PT ASIC Energi Nusantara and ASIC Shipping and Renewable Sdn Bhd, would strengthen their commitment towards providing a dynamic total solution for the MoU to support the long-term economic development in Indonesia, which is consistent with ASIC\u2019s vision to bring Malaysia\u2019s expertise to the global market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, ASIC\u2019s marketing director (Indonesia) Errie Tri Rosadi said he is confident that the MOU with PT DKB would create a unique synergy that gives even greater ability to serve the economic growth in Malaysia and Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
