What the people hope for, and what I personally hope for, is the sustainability of its action in the education sector, in the health sector, in the economic sector, in all sectors of the country and in infrastructure,&#8221;<\/strong>&nbsp;said&nbsp;Atalia Ndong, government spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;Every country has its own model of democracy. There is no system that governs democracy in absolute terms. In Equatorial Guinea, there is a presidential democracy. A peaceful election. We are pleased that the opposition parties participated and that one of the main candidates in this election came to congratulate us,&#8221;<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;added Evita Junto, a politician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In power since 1979, Obiang was re-elected in the Central African oil country which he rules with an iron fist and in the face of a muzzled opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With more than 43 years at the helm, Obiang holds the record for longest-serving head of state outside of a monarchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The statistics show that the people have always supported my candidacy,\u201d said Obiang, 80, the world\u2019s longest-serving president currently in the 43rd year of his tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs long as I am president and with our resources, the people\u2019s desires and needs for well-being will be fully realized,\u201d said Obiang who vowed at the swearing-in event in the capital Malabo, marking the beginning of his next seven-year term at the country\u2019s helm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony began after a military parade attended by top officials and a host of foreign African leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obiang promised the full implementation of outstanding projects, as well as to eradicate corruption and maintain the Central African country\u2019s unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He vouched for its peace and stability, as well as the sustainable development that he said the nation was experiencing. &#8212; NNN-AFRICANEWS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MALABO, Dec 9 (NNN-AFRICANEWS) &#8212; Equatorial Guinea\u2019s President&nbsp;Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, 80, who holds the world record for time in power for a living head of state excluding monarchs, is sworn in for a sixth, seven-year term.
