{"id":184141,"date":"2022-07-19T12:43:48","date_gmt":"2022-07-19T04:43:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=184141"},"modified":"2022-07-19T12:43:48","modified_gmt":"2022-07-19T04:43:48","slug":"malaysia-reaffirms-commitment-on-2030-agenda-at-hlpf-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=184141","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia reaffirms commitment on 2030 agenda at HLPF 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PUTRAJAYA, July 19 (NNN-Bernama) &#8212; Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment towards a more sustainable, resilient and inclusive development at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2022 (HLPF 2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foreign Ministry in a statement Tuesday said Minister in the Prime Minister\u2019s Department (Economy) Mustapa Mohamed had&nbsp;delivered Malaysia\u2019s statement at the forum in which he had&nbsp;reaffirmed the country\u2019s commitment to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda), as reflected in the12th Malaysia Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mustapa also&nbsp;welcomed cooperation from between and among UN member states, and called on countries to continue sharing best practices, knowledge and technical expertise through capacity building in areas of climate change, poverty eradication, digitalisation and innovation to accelerate its pursuit in realising the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HLPF 2022&nbsp;was&nbsp;held from July 5 to 15 under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) under the theme \u201cBuilding back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&nbsp;reviewed in-depth the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education, Goal 5 on Gender Equality, Goal 14 on Life Below Water, Goal 15 on Life on Land, and Goal 17 on Partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Foreign Ministry, Malaysia had also organised side events in conjunction with the HLPF 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of them was the&nbsp;\u2018Building Back Better in Localising SDGs: A Case Study of Malaysia and Three Southeast Asian Country Experiences of the Partnership Model\u2019 virtual forum coorganised by the Foreign Ministry and&nbsp;the Economic Planning Unit in collaboration with the All Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia for Sustainable Development Goals (APPGM-SDG) on July 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from that, Malaysia together with Indonesia and the Philippines in collaboration with the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) and the International Coconut Community (ICC) organised a side&nbsp;event entitled \u201cCatalysing Actions for Sustainable Vegetable Oils in Support of Sustainable Development Goals\u201d on&nbsp; July 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The virtual event drew more than 160 participants. It highlighted the pivotal role of the vegetable oil sector in supporting the achievement of SDGs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event also served as a platform to promote public awareness on emerging trends and actions in ensuring sustainability across all types of vegetable oils and to identify the way forward in promoting sustainable vegetable oils across both producer and consumer countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, a six-day virtual exhibition was held from July 10 to 15, where vegetable oils producing countries and stakeholders showcased best practices and experiences in supporting SDGs, it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 19, Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah had&nbsp;participated&nbsp;as a panellist&nbsp;in the High-Level Segment of the ECOSOC entitled \u201cLooking Ahead: Acting Today to Secure a Better Future\u201d, where he shared Malaysia\u2019s perspectives and experiences in building back better from the impact of COVID-19 pandemic in pursuing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; NNN-BERNAMA\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PUTRAJAYA, July 19 (NNN-Bernama) &#8212; Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment towards a more sustainable, resilient and inclusive development at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2022 (HLPF 2022).
