{"id":184087,"date":"2022-07-19T10:44:28","date_gmt":"2022-07-19T02:44:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=184087"},"modified":"2022-07-19T10:44:29","modified_gmt":"2022-07-19T02:44:29","slug":"malaysia-one-of-the-most-hassle-free-countries-to-visit-post-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=184087","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia one of the most hassle-free countries to visit post-pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, July 19\u00a0(NNN-Bernama) &#8212;\u00a0Malaysia is one of the most hassle-free countries to visit in the post-pandemic (COVID-19) period, says Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Nancy Shukri.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said this&nbsp;included the further easing of standard operating procedures (SOP) starting May 1&nbsp;2022, where&nbsp;fully-vaccinated travellers including children aged 17 and below were&nbsp;no longer required to undergo pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTravel insurance is also not a prerequisite for foreigners entering the country,\u201d she said at a networking dinner with the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) here Monday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nancy said Malaysia was currently aiming to raise awareness of the historical state of Melaka &#8211; one of the recognised UNESCO World Heritage sites in the country and such an initiative hoped to further boost arrivals from Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThailand is like our (Malaysia\u2019s) big brother and remains one of our essential short-haul markets,\u201d she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nancy added that in 2019, Malaysia welcomed more than 1.8 million arrivals from Thailand, and almost 70 per cent of Thai&nbsp;tourists were frequent&nbsp;travellers&nbsp;who came to Malaysia for holiday, shopping, and to visit friends and relatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said the top activities for Thai tourists&nbsp;were sightseeing in the cities, shopping and visiting historical sites including museums and the most visited states were Kuala Lumpur, Selangor&nbsp;and Pahang.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe (Malaysia and Thailand) are not only close to each other as neighbouring countries, but Malaysia is also a value-for-money destination,\u201d said Nancy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to reporters after the event, she said Malaysia targeted two million Thai tourists to visit the country by year-end.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nancy said Malaysia may review its tourist arrivals again in September as the number of tourists coming into the country has been encouraging to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malaysia initially targeted two million tourists arrival since the country reopened its borders on April 1.
