ANKARA, May 25 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Five Turkish soldiers were killed and two others injured yesterday, in an operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), in northern Iraq, the Turkish defence ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three soldiers were killed and four wounded in a rocket launch attack by the PKK, in the ongoing operation dubbed, Claw-Lock, and two of the wounded later died at a hospital, according to a ministry statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Turkish security forces killed seven members of Syria’s Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), in northern Syria, the ministry said earlier in the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ankara sees the YPG as the Syrian branch of the outlawed PKK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Apr, Turkey launched ground and air military offensive in northern Iraq, against PKK’s targets in Metina, Zap and Avasin-Basyan regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Turkey regularly conducts cross-border operations on PKK bases in northern Iraq. The PKK, listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, has been rebelling against the Turkish government for over 30 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
