KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (NNN-Bernama) — The number of Malaysia’s new COVID-19 cases remained below the 15,000 mark for two days in a row with 12,380 cases reported on Sunday (April 3), bringing the case tally in the country to \u00a04,246,467.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Saturday (April 2), 14,692 cases were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases recorded Sunday, 7,559 were in category one, 4,736 (category two), 32 (category three), 20 (category four) and 33 in category five, the most severe category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 20,635 recoveries from the virus were reported Sunday, bringing cumulative recoveries in the country to 4,018,421 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, Dr Noor Hisham said out of the number of new cases, 253 required treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while 157 required respiratory support. The national infectivity rate or Rt value stood at 0.85. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The country recorded 30 deaths due to COVID-19 on Sunday, according to the Health Ministry\u2019s GitHub portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, a total of 14,949 children aged between five and 11 years have completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) as of Sunday, a more than double increase from the 6,129 children recorded the day before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on the COVIDNOW website, a total of 1,348,693 children had received at least one dose of vaccination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For adolescents aged 12 to 17, some 2,853,753 individuals or 91.7 per cent have received two doses of the vaccination, while 2,949,653 or 94.8 per cent received the first dose of the vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 15,850,917 individuals or 67.4 per cent of the adult population have received the COVID-19 booster dose, 22,954,771 or 97.6 per cent have been fully vaccinated and 23,230,565 or 98.8 per cent received at least one dose of the vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
