KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 (NNN-Bernama) —\u00a0Malaysia has expressed hope to co-chair the second Joint Malaysia-Russia Commission for Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation (JCESTC) with Russia that\u00a0aims to boost partnership in areas such as aerospace, pharmaceutical and medical equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI look forward to co-chairing the second JCESTC alongside Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury I. Borisov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis will be a boost to our partnership, particularly in aerospace, pharmaceutical and medical equipment, shipbuilding, chemical, and power engineering, thus further contributing to the growth trajectory in our bilateral trade ties,\u201d said Senior Minister cum International Trade and Industry Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Azmin tweeted this after receiving a courtesy call from Russian Ambassador to Malaysia Naiyl M. Latypov on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first session of JCESTC was held between Malaysia and Russia in Moscow on Oct 1-2, 2019, with both countries discussing cooperation, particularly in the areas of aerospace, defence, information and communications technology, innovations, and digital development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Azmin also tweeted that he had a most engaging session with Latypov during his courtesy call, where both of them discussed a wide range of collaboration on how to further strengthen economic ties and bilateral linkages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said both countries had expressed optimism on the tremendous opportunities that would be presented to them through JCESTC, and the Working Group on Economic Cooperation in industry and trade led by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“These avenues are poised to pave the way for further upward trajectory in our bilateral trade relations and will foster enhanced business partnerships, he said, adding that Russia has also proposed to create more working groups on other focus areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
