They have been a partner of ours for many years,\u201d Tewolde GebreMariam wrote in a Monday statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will work with investigators in Ethiopia, in the US and elsewhere to figure out what went wrong,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flight ET 302 crashed on March 10 just minutes into its flight to Nairobi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was the second disaster for the 737 MAX 8 since the October crash of an Indonesian Lion Air Jet that killed all 189 passengers and crew. Aviation regulators responded by grounding the model around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ethiopia\u2019s transport minister has said \u201cclear similarities\u201d exist between the two crashes based on an analysis of black box data, without giving further details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While pledging \u201cfull and transparent cooperation to discover what went wrong,\u201d Tewolde also hit back at reports critical of Ethiopian\u2019s safety record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cContrary to some media reports, our pilots who fly the new model were trained on all appropriate simulators,\u201d Tewolde said in the Monday statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tewolde announced on Saturday the airline would sue media publications for \u201cpublishing baseless defamatory stories\u201d, according to Ethiopia\u2019s state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ethiopian Airlines is Africa\u2019s largest carrier and has had a long<br>association with American aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 1945 with assistance from former American carrier Trans World Airlines (TWA), Boeing aircraft make up the majority of the Ethiopian fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tewolde called for the 737 MAX 8\u2019s grounding after the crash, but in the statement struck a conciliatory tone towards Boeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDespite the tragedy, Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines will continue to be linked well into the future,\u201d he said. &#8212; NNN-AGENCIES<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ADDIS ABABA, March 26 (NNN-AGENCIES) \u2013 Ethiopian Airlines \u201cbelieves in\u201d Boeing despite the crash of its 737 MAX 8 plane that killed all 157 people on board and led to the model\u2019s grounding, the carrier\u2019s CEO said. \u201cLet me be clear: Ethiopian Airlines believes in Boeing.
