{"id":153420,"date":"2021-11-26T11:01:39","date_gmt":"2021-11-26T03:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=153420"},"modified":"2021-11-26T11:01:39","modified_gmt":"2021-11-26T03:01:39","slug":"malaysia-creates-joint-task-force-to-study-impacts-of-indonesias-capital-city-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=153420","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia Creates Joint Task Force To Study Impacts Of Indonesia&#8217;s Capital City Move"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), Nov 26 (NNN-Bernama) &#8212; Malaysia has established a joint task force to plan and monitor development at Sabah and Sarawak borders in line with Indonesia\u2019s plan to relocate its capital city to Kalimantan on the island of Borneo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister in the Prime Minister\u2019s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Dr Maximus Ongkili said besides infrastructure development, it would also review aspects such as tourism, cultural exchange, education and health tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will also look at issues related to border security and the setting up of Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Security complex at all entry points between the two countries,\u201d he said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ongkili said the establishment of the task force came about after Prime MinisterIsmail Sabri Yaakob and lawmakers raised their concerns on Indonesia\u2019s proposed plan to move its capital city from Jakarta to Kalimantan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the task force is preparing working papers to address the issue and would meet again middle of next month in preparation for the Special Council on Malaysia Agreement 1963 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoth Sabah and Sarawak chief ministers will be involved in drafting long-term border development strategies,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; NNN-BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), Nov 26 (NNN-Bernama) &#8212; Malaysia has established a joint task force to plan and monitor development at Sabah and Sarawak borders in line with Indonesia\u2019s plan to relocate its capital city to Kalimantan on the island of Borneo.
