{"id":153255,"date":"2021-11-25T11:10:03","date_gmt":"2021-11-25T03:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=153255"},"modified":"2021-11-25T11:12:45","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T03:12:45","slug":"three-arrested-over-fatal-ferry-accident-in-sri-lanka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=153255","title":{"rendered":"Three Arrested Over Fatal Ferry Accident In Sri Lanka"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>COLOMBO, Nov 25 (NNN-XINHUA) &#8211; The Sri Lankan police, yesterday arrested three people, over the ferry tragedy, which killed six people, including four children, and seriously injured 14 others, a day earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a police official, the owner of the ferry and two ferry operators were taken into custody, a day after the ferry, carrying 22 people, including school children, capsized when crossing a waterway in east Sri Lanka&#8217;s town of Kinniya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Immediate search operations were launched by navy divers on Tuesday and six bodies, including those of four children, were recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As many as 14 people have so far been rescued and divers are searching for two more missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The injured are receiving treatment at nearby state hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The police said that, the ferry capsized due to overcrowding.
