KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 (NNN-Bernama) — The current challenging economic landscape and the ongoing pandemic situation has clearly not affected the Malaysian oil and gas (O&G) companies\u2019 interest to pursue export opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is reflected by the fact that 16 Malaysian O&G companies have confirmed their participation in the Malaysia pavilion in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2021 trade fair from Nov 15-18, 2021 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Malaysian pavilion at ADIPEC 2021 is managed by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe hope that ADIPEC 2021 will continue to be an effective platform to generate new business opportunities and networking for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMalaysian companies are also keen to explore opportunities in the renewable sector,\u201d said MATRADE director of O&G, Chemical and Energy Section, S. Jai Shankar, who will be heading the delegation from MATRADE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement today, he noted that Malaysian companies intend to leverage ADIPEC 2021 to gain insights on the latest developments and technologies available in the O&G market to ensure they remain relevant in the global stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2020, exports of petroleum products between Malaysia and the UAE rose by 25 per cent to RM499.2 million from RM373.0 million recorded in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement, MATRADE aims to continue promoting Malaysian O&G companies and expanding their market access to key markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its participation in ADIPEC 2021 is also in line with the National Oil and Gas Services and Equipment Industry Blueprint which aims to strengthen the country\u2019s O&G export sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
