KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia Pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai announced Sunday that Petronas, the national oil and gas company has joined as its premier partner for the World Expo that will take place from Oct 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, Malaysia Pavilion said with its aspiration to be a progressive energy and solutions partner, the national energy company\u2019s participation aligns perfectly with the Pavilion\u2019s \u201cEnergising Sustainability\u201d theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As climate change becomes one of the most important priorities for the global community, Expo 2020 Dubai is a good platform for Petronas to showcase its sustainability aspirations and roadmap to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur partnership with Malaysia Pavilion gives us the opportunity to showcase Petronas\u2019 commitment and holistic approach to sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are embracing the need to chart a more sustainable path forward, and drive the maturity of our environment, social and governance (ESG) practices as well as realising our Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 aspiration,\u201d Petronas president and group chief executive officer Tengku Muhammad Taufik said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Themed \u201cConnecting Minds, Creating the Future\u201d, the World Expo will be participated by 192 countries and organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This quinquennial mega-event aims to promote global cooperation, innovation, technological development, human progress and education, and will be held for the first time in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Malaysia\u2019s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai is led by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation with Malaysia Green Technology and Climate Change Centre as implementing agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
