{"id":135754,"date":"2021-08-20T18:25:30","date_gmt":"2021-08-20T10:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=135754"},"modified":"2021-08-20T18:25:30","modified_gmt":"2021-08-20T10:25:30","slug":"kl-tower-among-worlds-iconic-landmarks-lit-in-purple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=135754","title":{"rendered":"KL Tower Among World\u2019s Iconic Landmarks Lit In Purple"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>KUALA LUMPUR Aug 20 (NNN-Bernama) &#8212; The Kuala Lumpur (KL) Tower was among the iconic landmarks around the world lit in purple last night, in conjunction with the launch of WeThe15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WeThe15 is a new human rights movement which represents 1.2 billion persons with disabilities, or 15 per cent of the world\u2019s population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The campaign, launched ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, is aimed at ending discrimination towards persons with disabilities and acting as a global movement publicly campaigning for disability visibility, inclusion and accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM), in a statement, said the movement brings together the biggest coalition ever of international organisations from the worlds of sport, human rights, policy, business, arts, and entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKL Tower was one of over 115 iconic landmarks, spanning multiple countries and time-zones, to light up the international colour of disability, purple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe global light up was to celebrate the launch of WeThe15, which aspires to be the biggest ever human rights movement to represent persons with disabilities,\u201d according to PCM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other landmarks illuminated included Tokyo\u2019s Skytree and Rainbow Bridge, Geneva\u2019s Jet d\u2019Eau, Moscow\u2019s Ostankino Tower, Rome\u2019s Coliseum, the London Eye and the Niagara Falls spanning Canada and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further information about WeThe15 can be found on its website, www.WeThe15.org, as well as its social media accounts with the handle @WeThe15 on Instagram and Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will be held from Aug 24 to Sept 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; NNN-BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR Aug 20 (NNN-Bernama) &#8212; The Kuala Lumpur (KL) Tower was among the iconic landmarks around the world lit in purple last night, in conjunction with the launch of WeThe15.
