BANGKOK, March 11 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Thailand\u2019s security authorities believe that \u201ca network trying to destroy the government\u2019s confidence\u201d is behind the series of explosions in Satun and Phatthalung provinces on Saturday and Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said he had instructed the security forces to beef up security in southern Thailand following the incidents that happened last night until early this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the perpetrator(s) behind the bombings, suspected to be from a group or network of groups, had lost their benefits and wanted to destroy the government\u2019s confidence.,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement said Prawit had instructed the authorities to hunt down the perpetrator(s) involved in the explosions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has also instructed the security and intelligence agencies in southern Thailand to monitor the movements of target groups to find out whether they were involved in any of the bombings in Satun and Phatthalung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the security authorities urged the public to give their fullest cooperation if there were any suspicious objects or strangers in their areas to prevent untoward incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was reported that at least 10 explosions rocked the turbulent Phatthalung and Satun provinces in southern Thailand between last night and early this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No loss of life was reported but the explosions resulted in damage to buildings and vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
