{"id":12412,"date":"2019-03-06T10:38:10","date_gmt":"2019-03-06T02:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=12412"},"modified":"2019-03-06T10:38:11","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T02:38:11","slug":"peru-six-mining-projects-to-start-construction-in-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=12412","title":{"rendered":"Peru: Six mining projects to start construction in 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/portal.andina.pe\/EDPfotografia3\/Thumbnail\/2017\/10\/28\/000459960W.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> TORONTO (Canada), March 6 (NNN-ANDINA) &#8212; Peru&#8217;s Energy and Mines Minister Francisco Ismodes said six new mining projects \u2014 worth US$3.441 billion\u2014 are expected to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-mining-investment-to-reach-61-billion-in-2019-743116.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">begin construction stage this year<\/a>, adding between 2020 and 2021 other nine initiatives \u2014with an investment of over US$11.8 billion\u2014 will be executed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The six projects are Santa Maria Expansion (La Libertad region), Tia Maria (Arequipa region), Lagunas Norte Optimization (Ancash region), Pachapaqui Expansion (Ancash region), Coroccohuayco Integration (Cusco region), and Corani (Puno region).\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remarks were made during the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pdac.ca\/convention\" target=\"_blank\">PDAC: The World&#8217;s Premier Mineral Exploration &amp; Mining Convention in Toronto<\/a>, where\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-inaugurates-stand-at-mining-convention-in-canada-744227.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Peru has opened a stand<\/a>\u00a0to attract investors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, the official noted the mining sector recovered last year thanks to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-quellaveco-mining-project-is-essential-for-private-investment-growth-739492.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Quellaveco<\/a>\u00a0(Moquegua region),\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-mina-justa-investment-to-reach-16-billion-724697.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Mina Justa<\/a>\u00a0(Ica region), and Toromocho Expansion (Junin region) mining projects, which exceed US$8.2 billion, as well as the completion of Shahuindo (Cajamarca region), Marcona (Ica region), and Toquepala (Tacna region) expansions, worth US$2.464 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It should be noted the 2018 mining construction projects portfolio has 48 projects with a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/andina.pe\/ingles\/noticia-peru-relies-on-49-mining-projects-worth-over-58-billion-723978.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">total investment of US$59.134 billion<\/a>. Cajamarca, Apurimac, Moquegua, and Arequipa regions account for approximately 67% of these investments.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the Inca country has a portfolio of 59 projects \u2014in\u00a0exploration stage\u2014 amounting to US$564 million.
