{"id":118974,"date":"2021-04-17T11:19:38","date_gmt":"2021-04-17T03:19:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=118974"},"modified":"2021-04-17T11:19:39","modified_gmt":"2021-04-17T03:19:39","slug":"us-shooting-8-killed-in-us-city-of-indianapolis-gunman-commit-suicide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=118974","title":{"rendered":"US shooting: 8 killed in US city of Indianapolis; gunman commit suicide"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/1-39.jpg\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/1-39.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>WASHINGTON, April 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; At least eight people were killed in a shooting in the US city of Indianapolis by a gunman who is believed to have then killed himself, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victims were all found at a Fedex facility near the international airport where the shooting took place late Thursday, police spokeswoman Genae Cook told a news conference, adding several others had been taken to hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She told reporters that officers had responded to an \u201cactive shooter incident,\u201d adding they believe the gunman died by suicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Fedex spokesperson confirmed in a statement that its facility was the scene of the shooting, and said the company was cooperating with authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are aware of the tragic shooting at our ground facility near the Indianapolis airport,\u201d the company said. \u201cSafety is our top priority, and our thoughts are with all those who are affected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility for the delivery company is reported to employ more than 4,000 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Live video showed police tape at the scene of the incident, which follows several mass shootings in recent weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of last month, four people, including a child, were shot dead in an office building in southern California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 22, 10 people were killed in a shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That came less than a week after a man shot and killed eight people, including six women of Asian descent, at spas in Atlanta, Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly 40,000 people in the United States die each year from guns, more than half of those being suicides. &#8212; NNN-AGENCIES<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON, April 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) &#8212; At least eight people were killed in a shooting in the US city of Indianapolis by a gunman who is believed to have then killed himself, police said.
