{"id":109212,"date":"2021-01-12T19:54:33","date_gmt":"2021-01-12T11:54:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=109212"},"modified":"2021-01-12T19:54:36","modified_gmt":"2021-01-12T11:54:36","slug":"caravan-2021-celebrates-bhutans-art-culture-and-literature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=109212","title":{"rendered":"Caravan 2021 Celebrates Bhutan\u2019s Art, Culture, And Literature"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>THIMPU, Jan 12 (NNN-Kuensel) &#8212; Amidst lockdown, artists, writers, and poets from Bhutan and India, virtually, celebrated\u00a0Bhutanese art, culture, and literature titled\u00a0\u201cCaravan 2021 -Bhutan\u201d\u00a0on January 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was organised by the&nbsp;Asian Literary Society&nbsp;(ALS)&nbsp;in association with the Journal of Asian Art, Culture and Literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founder of ALS,&nbsp;Manoj Krishnan, said the caravan series was a tribute to cultures, arts, and the literary traditions of Asia, which gave the world the gifts of many generations who have received their heritage by right and responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former education minister and chief&nbsp;guest&nbsp;of the event, Thakur Singh Powdyel, highlighted the&nbsp;grandeur of Bhutanese culture.&nbsp;\u201cThe 13 traditional arts of Bhutan were a manifestation of the creative genius of the culture each of which effortlessly integrates the primary functions of usefulness and beauty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that the religious paintings that dominate the massive walls of the dzongs and lhakhangs were among the most precious treasures that hold Bhutanese history and speak to the core as a nation and people. \u201cCaravan&nbsp;2021&nbsp;was a rare celebration of the true essence of Indo-Bhutan relationship, beyond a breath-taking festival of love and letters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Governor of Sikkim,&nbsp;Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh,&nbsp;shared his experiences&nbsp;based on his long and enduring personal relationship with three generations of monarchs in Bhutan&nbsp;and&nbsp;his&nbsp;understanding of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former&nbsp;secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs,&nbsp;India,&nbsp;drew on his intimate knowledge of Bhutan assimilated from about 60 visits to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An&nbsp;online&nbsp;art&nbsp;exhibition on the theme \u201cBhutan\u201d&nbsp;was displayed for online viewers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poets and writers&nbsp;from India and Bhutan&nbsp;joined the&nbsp;session on&nbsp;poetry&nbsp;recitation and&nbsp;storytelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, local writers like Kunzang Choden Roder, Gopilal Acharya, and&nbsp;Passang Tshering&nbsp;participated in the panel discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day-long programme\u00a0engaged\u00a0invited speakers\u00a0with\u00a0presentations\u00a0on the diverse aspects of Bhutanese\u00a0way of\u00a0life and culture,\u00a0online performances of songs and dances, literary\u00a0recitations,\u00a0online art exhibition, and a panel discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; NNN-KUENSEL<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THIMPU, Jan 12 (NNN-Kuensel) &#8212; Amidst lockdown, artists, writers, and poets from Bhutan and India, virtually, celebrated\u00a0Bhutanese art, culture, and literature titled\u00a0\u201cCaravan 2021 -Bhutan\u201d\u00a0on January 10.
