NEW DELHI, Jan 12 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — A team of Air India women pilots created history by flying the world’s longest direct route flight over the North Pole, covering a distance of about 16,000 kilometers between San Francisco and Bengaluru.
It was an exciting experience since it was never done before. It took almost 17 hours to reach here, Shivani Manhas, one of the four women pilots who operated Air India’s inaugural flight between those two destinations, told Asian News International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The crew consisted of Captain Manhas, Captain Zoya Agarwal, Captain Papagari Thanmai and Captain Akanksha Sonawane. They were given a grand welcome shortly after landing at Kempegowda International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aviation experts believe that flying over the North Pole is extremely technical and requires skill and experience. Captain Zoya Aggarwal was the youngest woman pilot to fly a Boeing-777 in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri congratulated Air India women pilots for flying over world’s longest air route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Women should have self-belief even if they face societal pressure, and should not consider any task impossible, Aggarwal said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
