KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 3 (Bernama) — The Emirati\nambassador to Malaysia, Khalid Ghanim Alghaith, expressed hope that the\nbilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Malaysia will\ncontinue to be enhanced \u2013 especially in the area of trade and\ninvestments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at a virtual celebration on the occasion of\nthe UAE’s 49th National Day Wednesday, the ambassador said the bilateral\ntrade between the two countries amounted to US$6.42 billion in 2019, adding\nthat \u201cwe look forward to further growth in these areas in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also commended the bilateral relations between the UAE\nand Malaysia, saying that they are deeply rooted since the days of the founding\nfathers of both nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur bilateral relations also are unique due to the\nbrotherly relations between the UAE leadership and His Majesty the King Yang\ndi-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri\u2019ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah,\u201d\nAlghaith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added: \u201cI take this opportunity to pray to Allah (SWT) to\nbless the UAE leadership and His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with good\nhealth and happiness, and I wish to Malaysia and its friendly people more\nprogress and prosperity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The virtual celebration, hosted by the UAE embassy, was also\nattended by the Undersecretary for South and Central Asia at\nMalaysia’s Foreign Ministry Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, UAE Military\nAttache Staff Lieutenant-Colonel Ali Ghdayer Alnuaimi, as well as\nrepresentatives from UAE national companies in Malaysia namely: Etihad Airways,\nEmirates Airlines, and Mubadala Petroleum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ambassador, in his speech, also highlighted UAE’s main\nachievements at the national, regional and international levels, despite 2020\nbeing a very challenging and exceptional year with the spread of the COVID-19\npandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This, he said, included launching a peaceful nuclear\npower plant, the first of its kind in the region, and sending the first Arab\nand Islamic probe to Mars – “the Hope Probe” – making the UAE\none of the nine countries aspiring to explore planet Mars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alghaith also noted that as the world witnessed the biggest\ncrisis facing humanity in decades due to COVID-19 pandemic, the UAE was able to\nconsolidate its humanitarian approach, which is a fundamental pillar of its\npolicy, especially in international cooperation and solidarity with societies\nin need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is reported that since the beginning of the COVID-19\noutbreak around the world, the UAE delivered medical supplies\nand humanitarian assistance to more than 120 countries in need, which\nbenefited over 1.6 million people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
