KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia) Dec 3 (Bernama) — The Sabah\ngovernment, through the state park agency Sabah Parks (TTS), is ready to\nreopen Mount Kinabalu in stages for climbing activities from Dec 7, said\nstate Local Government and Housing Minister Masidi Manjun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For a start, he said, the number of hikers would be\nlimited to 50 per cent of the capacity before the Movement Control Order (MCO)\nwas enforced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe state government, through TTS, is getting ready to\nreopen the gates of the agency-operated parks in stages to local visitors with\nstrict implementation of the standard operating procedure (SOP) starting\nDec 7, including Mount Kinabalu climbing activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe TTS is in the process of determining the SOP to be\nadopted when climbing activities are officially permitted,\u201d he said at the\ndaily COVID-19 press conference here Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control\nOrder (CMCO), Masidi said the state government was reviewing various aspects,\nincluding economic factors and the current COVID-19 situation in Sabah, to\ndecide whether or not to extend the CMCO, which is scheduled to end on Dec 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Ministry of Health (MOH), through the Sabah State\nHealth Department (JKNS), will assess and analyse the current COVID-19\nsituation in Sabah as well as give advice regarding the matter to the state\ngovernment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe decision to extend, end the CMCO or implement any other\ntype of control, will take into account the interests of all sectors,\nsubject to the advice of the MOH and the National Security Council (MKN),\u201d he\nsaid, adding that the Sabah government had so far distributed 264,031 food\nbaskets to targeted groups in all the districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, state Community Development and People\u2019s\nWellbeing Minister Ir Shahelmey Yahya, in a separate statement, said a total of\n3,151 food baskets were today distributed to 19 districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
