{"id":104201,"date":"2020-12-02T15:11:10","date_gmt":"2020-12-02T07:11:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=104201"},"modified":"2020-12-02T15:11:12","modified_gmt":"2020-12-02T07:11:12","slug":"malaysia-ranked-top-muslim-friendly-travel-country-msian-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=104201","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia Ranked Top Muslim-Friendly Travel Country &#8211; Msian Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (Bernama) &#8212;&nbsp;Malaysia has been\nnamed&nbsp;the best country in four out of six sectors in the&nbsp;State of the\nGlobal Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2020\/21, including as the top-ranked\ncountry in the Muslim-Friendly Travel (MFT) sector, said&nbsp;Tourism, Arts and\nCulture Minister Nancy Shukri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the report issued&nbsp;by the international\nstrategy research and advisory firm DinarStandard&nbsp;recently,&nbsp;Malaysia\nalso emerged top&nbsp;in the Halal Food, Islamic Finance, and Pharmaceutical\n&amp; Cosmetics sectors, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malaysia was ranked second and fourth in the Media &amp;\nRecreation and Modest Fashion sectors respectively, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRealising the huge potential of Islamic tourism under the\nconcept of MFT, Malaysia through MOTAC (Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture)\nand its agency ITC (Islamic Tourism Centre) will continue to increase the effort\nto gain more market shares through infrastructure and facilities, training,\ncapacity building, and standards and&nbsp;certification as well as promotion by\nthe tourism promotion boards,\u201d&nbsp;she said in a statement Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the MFT category, the Malaysian government ranked highest\nin two out of four benchmark dimensions, namely in governance which refers to\nregulations related to the tourism industry&nbsp;and awareness in terms of\nmedia coverage and stakeholder training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nancy said&nbsp;MOTAC and ITC had focused on stakeholder\ntraining during the downtime generated from the COVID-19 pandemic, which was\nhighlighted in the SGIE report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cITC offered a series of free online Muslim-friendly\ntourism-related training sessions during the crisis, covering topics such as\nhalal certification, the needs of the Muslim travellers, and Islamic branding\nand marketing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the other two benchmark dimensions, Malaysia was placed\nsecond in Financial Support&nbsp;for inbound tourism spend and third in Social\nDimension, which refers to the sector\u2019s impact on employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Muslim-Friendly Travel sector, 200.3 million Muslim travellers\ncontributed US$194 billion (RM790 billion) in&nbsp;travel spend in 2019,\nattesting to its enormous potential.
