{"id":104030,"date":"2020-12-01T17:31:00","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T09:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=104030"},"modified":"2020-12-01T17:31:01","modified_gmt":"2020-12-01T09:31:01","slug":"malaysian-businesses-expects-pre-covid-profitability-by-end-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/namnewsnetwork.org\/?p=104030","title":{"rendered":"Malaysian Businesses Expects Pre-Covid Profitability by End-2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) &#8212; Malaysian businesses are\ncoping relatively well despite current challenges and are expected to return to\npre-COVID-19 profitability levels by the end of 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HSBC\u2019s global survey \u2018Navigator: Now, next and how\u2019, which\nsurveyed 200 companies in Malaysia, reveals that 76 per cent of them expect to\nreturn to pre-COVID-19 profitability levels by the end of 2022, while six per\ncent were already ahead of their own pre-COVID-19 level of sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer&nbsp;Stuart\nMilne said the resurgence of COVID-19 cases, decline in consumer demand and\nprotectionism have&nbsp;not dampened the inclination of most Malaysian\nbusinesses to invest to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMalaysian businesses remain optimistic despite the\nunprecedented year. &nbsp;About 74 per cent of Malaysian businesses have\nundergone changes in the last 12 months and looking ahead, Malaysian businesses\nview innovation and collaboration as the top two characteristics of a\nsuccessful future business,\u201d&nbsp;he told a virtual media briefing on the\nsurvey Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This latest report by HSBC gauges business sentiment and\nexpectations on trade activity and business growth, and surveyed more than\n10,000 companies across 39 markets in the world, including 200 companies in\nMalaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the survey data disclose that overall, Malaysian\nbusinesses are more positive than their regional peers and are coping\nrelatively well with the current challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proportion of Malaysian businesses (74 per cent)\nprojecting growth over the next year is also well above the average for Asia\nPacific (60 per cent), with the top three drivers of business growth include\nincreased domestic demand, expanding to new digital platforms and channels, and\nintroducing new products and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Milne said businesses in Malaysia also have an optimistic\noutlook when it comes to international trade with 80 per cent of companies\nexpect their international trade prospect over the next one to two years to be\npositive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the recent signing (and eventual ratification) of the\nRegional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the bank expects to see an\nincrease in intra-Asian trade, which is already larger than Asia\u2019s trade with\nNorth America and Europe combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said this increase would continue to power global\neconomic growth and pull the economic centre of gravity towards Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212; BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) &#8212; Malaysian businesses are coping relatively well despite current challenges and are expected to return to pre-COVID-19 profitability levels by the end of 2022.
