RABAT, Nov 5 (NNN-MAP) – The African Development Bank (AfDB) will loan Morocco 118 million U.S. dollars, to strengthen the North African country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The loan will be directed to improve the health system by increasing the intensive care bed capacity to 1,350, with 666 additional units, according to the report.
Moreover, 78 hospital emergency rooms will also be upgraded, and it will also provide Morocco with sufficient screening tests, pharmaceutical products and devices.
Morocco reported yesterday, 5,745 new COVID-19 cases, the highest daily spike, since the start of the outbreak in the country on Mar 2.
According to the new data, published by the ministry of health, Morocco now has a total of 235,310 COVID-19 cases, and 3,982 people have died from the virus, including 82 new deaths in the past 24 hours.– NNN-MAP
