WorldRemit waives their fees on transfers to the Philippines in light of recent natural disaster

LONDON, Nov 5 (Bernama) — WorldRemit, a leading digital payments platform, is waiving their fees on money transfers to the Philippines in light of the recent tropical storm. Customers will be able to send money from across the world to the Philippines with no WorldRemit service fees from 4th November to 10th November 2020.

Goni, which is also known as tropical storm Rolly in the Philippines, has led to multiple deaths and caused widespread devastation leading to over 370,000 people being displaced and the destruction of thousands of homes. Bicol, Quezon and Virac on Catanduanes Island have been most severely hit with estimates suggesting that 90% of buildings were destroyed. Communication lines are down and residents have been left without access to electricity and water.
