COVID-19: 900 cases of recovery today, higher than new infections

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) — A total of 900 patients have recovered from COVID-19 today, surpassing the number of the daily new positive cases of 834.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, at his daily press conference, said this leaves the number of active cases at 9,968.

Of the total new cases, he said 831 were local transmissions, while three others were import cases from individuals who returned from the United States, India and Indonesia.

Sabah recorded the highest number of new cases at 503, followed by Selangor (129), Labuan (105) Penang, (21), Kuala Lumpur (20), Negeri Sembilan (16), Sarawak (14), Johor (eight), Putrajaya (six), Kedah and Perak (three each), Kelantan (two) and Pahang (one).

Dr Noor Hisham said 91 positive cases were being treated in the intensive care unit with 32 of them requiring ventilators.

Two deaths were recorded today, bringing the cumulative death toll due to COVID-19 in Malaysia to 251, he added.
