YANGON, Oct 26 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities seized a large haul of narcotic drugs worth over 2.5 billion kyats (over 1.9 million U.S. dollars) in Shan state, according to a release from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control, yesterday.
According to the release, the joint anti-narcotic police made a seizure in Mong Hsat township on Saturday.
A total of 2,000 stimulants, 124 kg of methamphetamine (ICE), 650 kg of caffeine and other drugs-related materials were confiscated from a house and a motorcycle, and one suspect was arrested.
The township police filed a case against the suspect, while the search for two others, who fled the scene is underway, the release said.
According to the latest release issued by the President’s Office, a total of 1,377 drug-related cases were registered across Myanmar, while 2,101 people were charged in connection with the cases, as of Oct 17 this year, since the formation of the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department, on June 26, 2018.– NNN-MNA
