India’s Inter-Ministerial Team To Visit Telangana To Assess Rain-Related Damages

NEW DELHI, Oct 22 (NNN-PTI) – The Indian government announced that a five-member inter-ministerial team would visit the southern state of Telangana, to assess the rain-related damages.

The team led by joint secretary in the federal home ministry, Praveen Vasishta, will be visiting the affected state from today, on a three-day tour for on-the-spot assessment of damages in the rain-ravaged state.

Incessant rains lashed several parts of the state the past several days.

“The Government has constituted a five-member inter-ministerial central team, to have an on-the-spot assessment of the damages caused by the rainfall and consequential floods in the State of Telangana. The team will commence its two-day visit from Oct 22 (today),” federal junior home minister, G Kishan Reddy, said.

According to state-run broadcaster, All India Radio (AIR), Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana witnessed the highest rainfall in the past 100 years.

Reddy said, the federal government will extend financial assistance to the victims in the state.

The Telangana government has put the number of dead, in the unprecedented rains that hit the state last week, at 70.– NNN-PTI
