BANGKOK, Oct 22 (NNN-TNA) – Police in Thailand’s Phatthalung Province, seized 200 kg of crystal methamphetamine, following an exchange of fire with drug couriers yesterday.

The three drug couriers were arrested, with one wounded. No deaths were reported during the clash.

The gunfire occurred in an alley in Pa Bon district of Phatthalung Province, said Pol. Col., Somchai Chanyang, chief of Pa Pon police.

The three suspects were on board a white pickup truck, which was blocked by two police vehicles in the area, leading to an exchange of gunfire between the police and the culprits, said Somchai.

“We also found 10 travel bags containing 200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, a pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition in the suspects’ pickup truck,” said Somchai.

According to police interrogation, the three suspects had been hired for 50,000 baht (1,602 U.S. dollars) each, to transport the crystal meth from the western province of Prachuap Khiri Khan to Phatthalung province, where it would be delivered to a drug dealer.– NNN-TNA
