CARACAS, Oct 17 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro said that the people’s food will always be a priority of the State, despite the US coercive and unilateral measures that limit the acquisition of those resources.
In order to celebrate World Food Day on Friday, the head of State reaffirmed on Twitter that he will boost policies aimed at guaranteeing the right to food.
Maduro also highlighted the work of the communities organized in the Local Supply and Production Committees (CLAP), which he described as essential links in the production and distribution of food.
The Venezuelan government develops a national production line focused on urban agriculture, development of food processing plants and harvest plans, to guarantee self-consumption and comply with the UN Sustainable Development Plan.
World Food Day has been celebrated on October 16 of each year since its establishment in 1979 by the member countries of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
