Canada’s Average Daily COVID-19 Case Count Remains Elevated

OTTAWA, Oct 15 (NNN-AGENCIES) – A total of 4,042 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Canada, including 1,996 backlogged cases from the long weekend and 2,046 newly identified cases on Tuesday, the Public Health Agency of Canada announced yesterday.

That means the average daily case count remains elevated with 2,223 cases being reported during the most recent seven days.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Canada reported a total of 188,984 COVID-19 cases and 9,663 deaths, according to CTV.

Canada added more than 400 new cases every day in Sept, and the once flattened curve has once again started to point in the wrong direction.

On Oct 2, more than 2,000 cases were reported for the first time, since the COVID-19 pandemic began in the country, even surpassing the peak seen in May. It reached a new record of over 2,500 new cases on Oct 9.

Organisations around the world warned about the economic impact lock-downs can have, specifically on those already struggling to get by. It’s something Canadian experts are worried about too, saying, last Friday that the huge decline in employment is going to push people under the poverty line.– NNN-AGENCIES
