KUNDUZ (Afghanistan), Oct 10 (NNN-Xinhua) – Seven policemen were killed and four others went missing as the Taliban militants attacked a police checkpoint in Khan Abad district of the northern Kunduz province on Saturday, a local official Qudratullah Safi said.
In HERAT, two travellers were killed and 10 others injured as a roadside bomb struck a passenger bus in Afghanistan’s western Herat province on Saturday, provincial police spokesman Abdul Ahad Walizada said.
“A passenger bus was heading from Herat to Kabul in the wee hours of Saturday but ran over a mine on the highway near Kandahar and as a result two travellers were killed and 10 others injured, all civilians,” Walizada said.
Three of the injured persons are in critical conditions, according to hospital sources in Herat.
The official also blamed the Taliban insurgents for the attack, saying the militants planted the mine to terrorize people.
Taliban militants have yet to make comment on the attack. — NNN-XINHUA
