KOTA KINABALU, Oct 8 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Dewan Masyarakat Tun Said flood relief centre in Kota Belud was closed at 12.30 pm today after the 21 evacuees there were allowed to return home, marking the end of flood relief operations in Sabah.
The Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said the last batch of evacuees to return home was from four families.
In a statement, it said they were among victims from 38 villages which were hit by floods in Kota Belud district on Monday.
On that day, eight flood relief centres were opened after 52 villages in three districts – Kota Belud, Tuaran and Kota Kinabalu – were hit by floods following continuous rain from early morning.
Another 26 villages in Penampang and Beaufort districts were also flooded but there was no evacuation.
