KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The police crippled a syndicate distributing smuggled liquor and cigarettes in the Klang Valley after detaining six men and seizing the contrabands worth RM1.3 million in a raid in Pandamaran Klang, Selangor.
Bukit Aman Department of Internal Security and Public Order deputy director Bukit Aman Datuk Fisol Salleh said the six men, comprising four locals and two Indonesians, aged from 19 to 40 years, were nabbed in an operation on Sunday.
‘’A total 2,522 cartons of beer, 1,082 boxes of liquor of various brands and 49 cartons of white cigarettes, which were smuggled in, were seized in the raid. All are worth RM1,287,450.
‘’Also seized were a sword, two containers and four cars, namely, a Toyota Alphard, Ford Ranger, Perodua Axia and a Proton Persona,” he said in a statement here, today.
Fisol said one of the suspects detained had a crime record.
All were remanded at the Klang Selatan Police Station for seven days from yesterday until October 12 for further investigations.
The case was being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967, Section 6(1)(d) of the Immigrations Act 1959/63 and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, he added.
