New Zealand Reports Only Three New Imported Cases Of COVID-19, No Community Case

WELLINGTON, Oct 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) – New Zealand reported three new imported cases of COVID-19, with all the community cases eliminated, as the country’s largest city, Auckland, returns to Alert Level 1, the lowest pandemic level, at midnight tonight.

Today’s first two cases arrived from Ethiopia via Dubai, on Sept 23. They have been in managed isolation at the Ibis in Hamilton, close to Auckland, and tested positive at routine testing around the 12th day of their stay, according to the Ministry of Health.

The third case arrived from Dubai on Sept 29, before being put in managed isolation at a Hotel. The case have been transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility, upon returning a positive test result.

The country’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 1,505.

Nine previously reported cases have recovered, including the six remaining active cases from the recent community outbreak, it said.

New Zealand’s total number of active cases is now 37 — all imported cases, with no remaining active community case. The Auckland Aug cluster will officially close, when no new cases were reported, Minister of Health, Chris Hipkins, told a news briefing.– NNN-AGENCIES
