TEHRAN, Oct 3 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran announced 3,552 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of infections in the country to 464,596.
Sima Sadat Lari, spokeswoman for the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said at her daily briefing that, 1,443 people had to be hospitalised in the past 24 hours over the virus.
As of Friday, the pandemic has taken 26,567 lives in Iran, after an overnight registration of 187 new deaths, according to Sadat Lari.
So far, 385,264 COVID-19 patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals, while 4,137 people remain in critical condition in intensive care units, she added.
The spokeswoman went on to say that, 4,067,861 laboratory tests for the virus have been carried out in Iran by now.
Currently, the risk of infection is high in 26 out of 31 Iranian provinces, while four other provinces are on alert over the spread of the disease.
