KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The German Embassy in Malaysia has extended its sincere gratitude and appreciation towards the efforts made by Malaysia in managing the COVID-19 cases in the country in both regional and global scale, said the Embassy’s Chargé d’affaires Dr. David Krivanek.
He said the cases of COVID-19 are fairly well contained as people are adhering to the restrictions imposed, like wearing face masks and social distancing.
“No doubt there is a rise in cases (in Malaysia) recently, so it’s important we all continue adhering to the recommendations imposed. So far, I would say well done Malaysia in managing COVID-19 cases,” he told Bernama after launching the three different wall murals today in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the reunification of Germany – which will be observed this Saturday (Oct 3) – at the German ambassador’s official residence here.
As of Wednesday, Malaysia reported an increase of 89 new COVID-19 cases in the country.
Krivanek nevertheless said that investments from Germany – to a certain extent – were affected in Malaysia due to the restrictions (in Malaysia) in view of COVID-19.
“Some foreign companies including German companies have faced issues like bringing in experts to build or repair something in Malaysia.
“This has led to a few German companies based in Malaysia to consider postponing envisaged investments due to the restrictions,” he said, adding that there are around 400 German-based companies active in Malaysia with the majority of them being small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
