YANGON, Sept 26 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s Ministry of Transport and Communications, extended the suspension of international air services operation until the end of Oct.
To prevent the importation of COVID-19 cases through air travel, the government suspended operation of international flights since Mar 30 after COVID-19 was first detected in the country on Mar 23.
Due to the suspension of international commercial flights, the government has been repatriating its nationals stranded in foreign countries by relief flights or special flights.
Some 150 Myanmar nationals from Singapore and 41 nationals from Thailand arrived at Yangon International Airport yesterday.
A total of 16,651 Myanmar citizens have been brought back by relief flights or special flights so far, the ministry’s figures said.
Under the management of the respective ministries and the Yangon Region Government, the returnees will be placed under a 14-day quarantine and a seven-day home quarantine on their arrivals.– NNN-MNA
