JERUSALEM, Sept 21 (NNN-MA’AN) – The rate of COVID-19 cases, among young people under the age of 20 in Israel, has risen significantly, reaching almost a third of all cases detected so far in the country, according to data issued by the state’s Ministry of Health yesterday.
The data showed that the rate of young people up to the age of 19, tested positive for the virus rose from 17.4 percent of all cases on Apr 18, to 22.4 percent on June 19, and to 30.9 percent at present.
The rate of children under the age of 10, who were tested positive rose from five percent of all cases in Apr to 6.8 percent in June and 10.2 percent now.
At the same time, the rate of patients over the age of 70 gradually dropped from 9.4 percent in Apr to 8.3 in June, and to 6.2 percent today.
Until now, the highest infection rate has been among ages 20 to 29, as in Apr it was almost twice as high as the 10 to 19 age group figure.
The number of cases in Israel reached 185,490, of which 50,749 are currently active.– NNN-MA’AN
