TRIPOLI, Sept 20 (NNN-AGENCIES) – The National Centre for Disease Control of Libya, yesterday reported 796 new COVID-19 cases, as the total confirmed cases in the country exceeded 27,000.
The centre said in a statement that, it received a total of 3,318 suspected samples, of which 796 were tested positive, adding that, 472 patients have recovered and eight died.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Libya currently is 27,234, including 14,679 recoveries and 436 deaths, the centre confirmed.
After the first case was announced in Mar, Libyan authorities closed the country’s borders, shut down schools and mosques, banned public gatherings and imposed a curfew, in order to curb infections.
China donated medical aid to Libya in June, to help the country’s pandemic battle.– NNN-AGENCIES
