TASHKENT, Sept 19 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Fifteen members of the radical Islamic group, Hizb ut-Tahrir, were arrested, after a police and security service joint raid in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region, Samarkand police department said yesterday.
The joint operation was carried out in Taylak, Samarkand, Urgut districts and the city of Samarkand, a police statement said.
Material evidence with extremist contents were found at the residences of the detainees, according to the statement, which added that, a criminal investigation was underway.
Uzbek Supreme Court listed Hizb ut-Tahrir as a banned religious extremist organisation in 2016.– NNN-AGENCIES
